The use of generative AI across education systems is accelerating, with the promise of scale, speed, and efficiency. Districts are burdened with the pressure to utilize the popularity of AI by introducing more AI tutors and resorting to AI-generated assessments.

Before approving any student-facing AI, district leaders and system leaders should get answers to the following:
- Where was this model trained, and on whose knowledge?
- How does it account for local culture and language?
- Does it improve long-term learning outcomes?
The choices made today around automation and student-facing tools will shape the learning outcomes of students across cultural backgrounds. The idea is not to slow innovation, but to enrich it with cultural awareness. When implemented responsibly, AI can boost systems and support educators.
