The soil culture grows in, written down for the
first time
In July 2019, Acky began ending his monthly CEO updates to Magicians with a reflection about something other than the immediate business. Sometimes it came from a book. Sometimes from a conversation, an experience, or a question he had not yet resolved.
The intention was to provoke discussion about how Magic was being built and what kind of company it might become.
Seven years later, 56 of those reflections have been brought together in The Last Paragraph. Taken as a whole, they are Acky’s closest answer to a deceptively simple question: What is Magic’s culture?
Acky Kamdar
Acky Kamdar is the CEO of Magic EdTech, where he leads a global team working to make digital learning more accessible, affordable, and sustainable.
His career spans EdTech, enterprise technology, artificial intelligence, and the services industry. Before joining Magic EdTech, he led large cross-functional teams at organizations including Genpact, Headstrong, TechSpan, Compaq Computers, and the HCL group of companies.
His professional interests include AI, machine learning, NLP, emerging technologies, and the changing nature of service businesses. The Last Paragraph, however, begins with a more human question: how do people build a company they can believe in, together?
Eighty emails. Seven
years. One last paragraph each time.
The Last Paragraph brings together 56 selected reflections, accompanied by short essays introducing each of its seven sections.
They were written in real time through a pandemic, rapid technological change, new ways of working, and the growing influence of artificial intelligence. Because they were not composed as a retrospective leadership manual, they do not smooth away the uncertainty or pretend that every question had a neat answer. Instead, they trace a company trying to learn, adapt, make better decisions, and prepare itself for what comes next.
Tune into our exclusive podcast to hear our CEO, Acky Kamdar, and our CHRO, Runu Jain, discuss the story behind the book and why documenting culture matters.

The same ideas you'll hear echoed across Magic — in meetings and in code reviews alike.

What Readers Are Saying
Some books are read. Others leave a mark long after the last page.
Where it ends — and where it doesn't
A book has to end somewhere. A culture doesn't. What's written here is only the paragraph before the next one — and at Magic EdTech, that next paragraph gets written by everyone who shows up and adds to it.
